Sino-Thai cross-border e-commerce and logistics cooperation continues to deepen.

Inside the Pop Mart store at the Suning Shopping Center in Kunming, Yunnan Province, it's common to see Thai tourists holding shopping bags, with a Rubik's Cube hanging from their tour guide flags.

"Thai tourists practically 'sweep' every Pop Mart store in Kunming to buy limited-edition trendy toys," joked Thai tour guide Jannamani Nopamark. After Rubik's Cube became a global hit, many offline stores faced shortages, and Thai fans rushed to Chinese e-commerce platforms and online communities to snatch up blind boxes through Taobao and Douyin live streams.

The online frenzy for Chinese blind boxes is a microcosm of the mutual pursuit in cross-border e-commerce between China and Thailand. This mutual pursuit was more comprehensively displayed at the 9th China-South Asia Expo.

Despite consecutive rainy days in Kunming, it couldn't dampen consumers' shopping enthusiasm. Stepping into the Southeast Asia Pavilion, the Thai booth was bustling with people. Over 70 companies showcased a dazzling array of products, with Thai items like inflatable jelly bags and herbal ointments attracting eager buyers.

Among them, the Thai inflatable jelly bag vendors were particularly popular. Li Jiawan from Wenshan, Yunnan, saw a post on Xiaohongshu about the vendor's participation in the expo and came the next day with friends to buy six bags in one go. "I've bought them online before, but the logistics system wasn't very well-developed then, and it was much more expensive than buying them at the expo," Li Jiawan said.

At the newly established cross-border e-commerce live streaming zone on the Trade Without Worries platform at the South Asia Expo, studio lights, tripods, and phones were neatly set up. Twenty-three international e-commerce influencers took turns introducing Yunnan's native and other global specialty products to the camera. One after another, cross-border live streams were conducted, continuously promoting Yunnan coffee, flowers, tea, and other products to overseas consumers.

While online live streaming helps products go global, offline logistics cooperation is also advancing steadily. In May this year, after Yunnan Tengjin Logistics Co., Ltd., a logistics service provider for the China-Laos Railway, reached preliminary cooperation intentions with Thailand's Regional Development Project Management Unit and Green Forward Company, they further signed an international logistics service agreement during the South Asia Expo.

"This agreement will deepen bilateral logistics and trade cooperation. Currently, the China-Thailand cross-border trade project has completed product selection in Thailand and is preparing to build an e-commerce platform and promote products," explained Wanipha Kooseela, a member of the Thailand Regional Development Project Management Unit.

"We organized eight Thai companies to exhibit this year, bringing products like Inca nut coffee, semi-ready-to-eat Northern Thai noodles, and Lampang chili sauce," Wanipha said. These products, in addition to being sold at the South Asia Expo, will leverage Tengjin Logistics' supply chain system to quickly enter the Chinese market through an innovative bonded zone model, reaching consumers within a week.

At the Cainiao (Yunnan) Bonded Zone Warehouse in Kunming, packaged Thai cosmetics, baby formula, health supplements, and other items are about to be delivered to Chinese consumers. Du Meng, the manager of Yunnan Zhengmao Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd., said the company helps Southeast Asian merchants bridge the "last mile" into China by connecting with platforms like Taobao, Tmall, and Xiaohongshu. Currently, the bonded warehouse handles up to 3,500 orders daily, peaking at 5,100 during peak seasons.

As a crucial support for China-Thailand e-commerce cooperation, customs authorities have also continuously innovated in facilitating customs clearance. Ming Qi, the head of the Third Supervision Section of the Kunming Post Office Customs, introduced that customs have launched an innovative "China-Laos Railway + cross-border e-commerce" clearance and transportation model, enabling Southeast Asian products to reach the Chinese market efficiently while continuously reducing the clearance time for Chinese cross-border exports. Data shows that in the first four months of this year, the Kunming Comprehensive Bonded Zone exported 1.6282 million cross-border e-commerce products to seven ASEAN countries, including Thailand.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of China-Thailand diplomatic relations and the "Golden 50 Years of China-Thailand Friendship." With the vigorous development of the digital economy and cross-border logistics, bilateral trade cooperation between the two countries has deepened, and the tree of China-Thailand friendship has become increasingly lush in this mutual pursuit.
